Press Release

After a long hiatus, Hirschl & Adler Modern returns to Chicago for the 2022 edition of Expo Chicago at the Navy Pier. Our booth will present important examples of Modernist, Post-War and Contemporary American art. Classic examples by Reginald Marsh and Arthur Dove will accompany a monumental Precisionist painting by Niles Spencer titled In Fairmont, of 1951. Two Chicago-born artists, Robert Natkin and Fairfield Porter will be included alongside the rare sculptor Christopher Wilmarth who created poignant, lyrical work using steel and glass. The booth will also showcase recent paintings by the gallery’s contemporary artists, including Angela Fraleigh, Colin Hunt, Andy Mister, and James Everett Stanley, as well as compelling new sculptural work by Lily Cox-Richard and Elizabeth Turk. We are also proud to present a major new painting by Julie Heffernan called Self Portrait with Sanctuary, 2022, exploring the importance and burden of carrying our cultural past.
